报告摘要:

Atomistic modeling based on electronic and atomic structure calculations is one of the most promising ways to reveal and predict the mechanical properties of structural materials, along with recent atomistic scale experimental observation techniques and multiscale modeling techniques. Here I introduce several our recent atomistic analyses for understanding and predicting the mechanical properties of structural materials. The talk may include the following topics. (1) atomistic prediction of Si solute atom effect on yield stress of Fe-Si alloy. (2) interstitial carbon and hydrogen diffusion behaviors in defective BCC iron and its effects on dislocation motion. (3) creep deformation of bulk nanostructured metal. (4) accelerated molecular dynamics simulations of GB diffusion, dislocation nucleation from GB, GB sliding and migration at finite temperature and usual stress levels. (5) first-principles study of deformation twining process in Mg.

报告人简介:

Prof. Shigenobu Ogata received his PhD degree of mechanical engineering from Osaka University, Japan in 1998. He is currently a professor of Department of Mechanical Science and Bioengineering, Osaka University and an professor of Center for Elements Strategy Initiative for Structural Materials (ESISM), Kyoto University. His research interests focus on multiscale and multiphysics modelings on mechanical properties of structural materials and nano-materials. He is currently a co-author of 108 peer-viewed journal articles and book chapters. He has an H-index of 24 and 2450 cites. He received many awards including Lee Hsun Lecture Award, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Institute of Metal Research.
