报告摘要:

ILG provides a robust continuum mechanics framework for considering multi-physics couplings for a variety of process and materials across scales and disciplines. Examples may be drawn from thermos-mechanics, chemo-mechanics and electro-mechanics, as well as from dislocation mechanics and neural mechanics. The role of experiments and simulations for complementing the approach is discussed. The possibility of introducing tools from fractional calculus and non-extensive thermodynamics is also discussed."

报告人简介:

Elias C. Aifantis is Professor of Mechanics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Prior to that he held faculty appointments at Michigan Tech, at the University of Minnesota and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has published ~530 articles in journal and proceedings [citations: ~7630/ISI, ~6600/SCOPUS; h-index: 43/ISI, 37/SCOPUS]. He is included in the Thomson Reuters list of Highly Cited Researchers in Engineering. He quoted the terms "material instabilities", "dislocation patterning", "chemomechanics", "nanomechanics" and helped promoting the scientific disciplines know today as "gradient elasticity" and "gradient plasticity", through his early papers on these subjects in 1984 and 1992 respectively.
