报告摘要:

The rapid advancement of high-performance computers and computationalfluid dynamics makes it possible to conduct high-fidelity simulations for marine hydrodynamics research and applications. This paper reviews various aspects, such as mathematical models, numerical algorithms, practical implementation considerations, etc., that are crucial to the development of a cutting-edge numerical tank. The relative merits of different approaches are analyzed in terms of simplicity, accuracy, efficiency, and robustness from the perspectives of both users and developers. A numerical tank that is currently under active development embracing these findings is briefly discussed.

报告人简介:

Dr. Jianming Yang received his PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Maryland, College Park in 2005. He was a full Research Scientist in IIHR-Hydroscience and Engineering at The University of Iowa. In 2016 Dr. Yang founded Fidesi Solutions, LLC, which mainly focuses on innovative algorithm design and scalable solver development for high-fidelity simulations of complex flows involving multiphase, multiscale, and multiphysics phenomena.
