报告摘要:

The MultiStage Fatigue (MSF) model is created upon the integrated computational materials engineering (ICME) concept, that captures fatigue damage evolutions associated with micro- and meso-scale heterogeneities in the materials developed in material processing. In general, fatigue damage evolution consists of four stages: incubation, (microstructurally and physically) small crack growth, and long crack growths as observed experimentally. The damage evolution in each stage is governed by the principles associated with specific damage driven mechanism associated with the microstructure features, such as inclusion, dendrite/grain/phase morphology, etc.  As an example, the MSF model is demonstrated on a high strength wrought 7075-T651 aluminum alloy. The MSF model provides a framework to incorporate the microstructural features and stochastic interference between fatigue damage and the microstructural features into fatigue life prediction. It thus provides a tool for optimizing material selections, processing, and components and structural designs.

 

报告人简介:

Dr. Xue received her Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the G.W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering at Georgina Tech in 1998. She received a BS in Applied Mechanics and MS in Computational Mechanics from Dalian University of Technology, China. She conducted industrial R&D on fatigue of metals and progressive damage of composite materials and structures. Her composite studied ranges from ceramic matrix composites CMCsfor the hot section of jet engines and 3D-woven polymer-based composites as fan blades in Leap Engine. Dr. Xue has broad experiences in materials modeling, testing, and simulations.  She has published over 30 refereed Sci journal papers.  Her paten on a continuous coater has been filed in the US, Europe, Korea, and Canada.
